Pyramid Visuals

The PyramidVisuals / Greenpeace banner featuring 380 Meter Squared 3D artwork by Kurt Wenner has made it’s way to Budapest, Hungary and was put on display in front of Parliament on Kossuth Square.

The initiative was started by Greenpeace and Avaaz as a petition against GM crops and was supported by the signatures of a million Europeans which were then printed on the edge of the canvas.

Here are some photos of the banner in Budapest.

I’m Mike Young a new recruit to Pyramid Visuals

I’ve been working in the printing industry for over 25 years and it’s hard to think that the industry can be so diverse , in every aspect

And what it has to offer both as security print, catalogues , magazines flyers and booklets .

Which I had been accustomed to over the many years , throughout this industry we have become used to our surroundings and what we are used to working in until it hits you in the face .

We all get into our comfort zones as they say with what we do and how we act . that is until you get told as one person did to me one afternoon “think outside the banner “.

I lived in Leeds so taking a new job in new surroundings started to make me think whilst driving down to London on a Monday morning then back to Leeds on a Friday and you’re stuck in traffic as you all know that feeling as I’m sure you will , you start to look around and the mind wanders after you’ve spotted and advertisement .then I started to wonder just how many people commute without noticing the amount of everyday advertisements are right there in front of their eyes .

You only realize this when its pointed out all theses posters , banners , vehicle wraps sat right in front of you free and very much mobile advertisement.

You actually start to look and think someone somewhere has taken the time to actually evolve and generate what would have probably been an idea on the back of a matchbox and developed this into more than an idea into something that will catch the eye .

Make something that stood out to me since working for Pyramid Visuals , the way we can evolve , design , generate , and evaluate how to make someone’s idea become an eye catching design that will grab the attention of the public so much so they want to get involved in this or even want to buy into this .

Whether it be banners , posters , everyday leaflets , car wraps building wraps . they all do the same thing and that is catch the attention of the general public , make them stop for that one second and ponder is this for them .Pyramid Visuals can do this and loads more by just engaging in just one idea .

We all want what we are trying to advertise, show off to be noticed there are companies that can do this and Pyramid Visuals can do all this .

The way we communicate today isn’t by phone , if we want to communicate to the masses as they say its to everybody .

Whether it be Banners for special occasions , Public spectacles Events and Promotional brandings , Point of sale , Freestanding display units , Countertop display units , Car wraps , Simple posters

They all catch the eye . Making you want to buy into that product , All because it caught your eye just for that moment made you stop and look.

Pyramid Visuals is there just for that principle to help generate ideas from a matchbox into real life advertisements

Just think of the phrase “Pyramid Visuals bringing Visuals to Life”

Kind regards

Mike Young

Creativity, Flexibility, Speed, Versatility and Efficiency are all key benefits of the advanced digital cutting technology we have on hand at Pyramid Visuals. During the course of each working week we produce a large range of shapes and sizes of profile cut digital print, from simple outlines to multi-component complex 3-d cardboard engineered displays and retail merchandising units.
There have been few better examples in our recent work to illustrate the creative edge that this technology brings to our clients than the Christmas window schemes we produced for a leading fashion chain. The client’s brief was to keep graphics clean and uncluttered, to bring a readily identifiable Christmas theme to the High Street, without distracting customers from the products and merchandise on offer.
The final designs did away with print all together!
Using our Zund digital cutting facilities, we produced a range of free-standing displays with no ink! The centrepiece was a large hanging display featuring Santa Claus on his sledge flying over a village, with a starry sky behind. Energy efficient LED lighting was sandwiched between complex shaped cut foamed pvc panels to create an elegant and simple decoration. This centre piece was complemented with free standing Christmas trees standing nearly two metres high, and Reindeer alongside. The look was finished with frosted effect vinyl applied to the windows cut to resemble ice covered branches and twigs in a snowy forest.

With a range of different size windows throughout the chain of shops, we produced a range of location specific sized displays. Size changes are accommodated at the touch of a button, and cost effective bespoke material can be produced in the same time as would be taken in a production run of all the same size displays. No expensive tooling, no large set up costs, digital cutting has given our designers and clients alike greater freedom in creative ideas.

Evans Cycles the well known push bike company wanted to rebrand their vehicle fleet with something more colourful and impactful.

Evans have a total of 15 7.5 ton ridged trucks and 3 transit size vans in their fleet and wanted the vehicle livery to represent the corporate brand.
They approached Pyramid Visuals to assist them re brand and transform their fleet of vehicles.

As the 7.5 ton trucks travel up and down the country we used the Avery 2000 with the DOL 2000 laminate and the transit size vehicles with the Avery 1005 and 3D 1030 laminate which are a reliable and trusted vinyl all digitally printed on our HP Scitex 1500 .

The vehicles worked in a relay where we removed the old livery, cleaned up the trucks and wrapped the bodywork with the vinyl digital print. The end result is a striking fleet livery as an effective advertisement for their corporate brand which will last them for 5 years.

Truckside advertising is an effective way of getting your marketing message across and will cost a lot less than billboard advertising.

Brussels 9th December 2010The EU Lisbon Treaty is being tested for the first time since its entry into force last year, said Avaaz and Greenpeace. The civil society organisations delivered an unprecedented citizens’ initiative signed by 1 million Europeans calling on the European Commission to ban GM crops until safety testing is made independent and scientific. The handover of the first-ever citizens’ initiative petition was marked by a world record-breaking digitally printed 3D art manufactured by large format printer Pyramid Visuals.

In early October, Weybridge based company Pyramid Visuals were contacted by Greenpeace International, to assist with the production and printing of an environmentally friendly, large format banner to help them promote the above cause when they unveiled it on the doorstep of the European Commission headquarters in Brussels to demonstrate the EU-wide objection towards genetically modified crops.

Having taken the brief from Greenpeace and discussed with them the logistics of printing, production and delivery, it was clear that this was going to be no ordinary task.

The artwork for the banner was being created in the US by American artist, Kurt Wenner, a world renowned street painter famous for his realistic 3D anamorphic street paintings.  Kurt drew the image in the US, replicating his infamous street art, by drawing it in sections before scanning and compositing the artwork prior to emailing it, also in sections (11GB) to Pyramid Visuals in the UK.  Once downloaded, our own in-house designers reformatted the images into printable sections and added the million legible signatures around the outside of the banner with perfect replication of the original artwork to create the world’s largest piece of anamorphic art.

From the outset, Greenpeace had specifically requested that the banner be printed on an eco-friendly material which Pyramid Visuals was duly charged with sourcing.  Although the number of requests from clients wanting to use ‘greener’ materials is increasing and the printing industry is beginning to manufacture a wider selection of eco-friendly products, the actual substrate chosen for this job was a specific environmentally friendly, non-PVC fabric material.

For the printing of the banner – which required an overall finished dimension of 22m x 22m – and to ensure quality replication of the artwork (including the one million legible protest signatures around the perimeter), the decision was taken to digitally print it in sections on Pyramid Visuals’ in-house Scitex HP XL1200 machine.  Once all sections had been printed, they then had to be welded together matching up each piece in accordance with the artwork to form a fully joined, large scale, circular fabric banner.

Once completed, the banner was carefully packed and personally driven from our office in Weybridge, Surrey to the European Commission in Brussels for arrival on the 9th of December 2010 by a Director from Pyramid Visuals who was on hand to assist Greenpeace with any issues relating to its unloading and prominent unveiling.

Pyramid Visuals are very proud to have been able to support Greenpeace in this record breaking high profile event as having recently been awarded an ISO14001 accreditation, we are a company that actively promotes and supports environmental matters.

Imagine a circular banner that measures 22m x 22m and contains a 3D Anamorphic piece of art by a world renknowned artist and has 1 million signatures alongs its edge, neatly printed on environmentally friendly fabric.

That’s what we at Pyramid Visuals had to deliver for a Greenpeace petition against genetically modified crops.

After getting the brief from Greenpeace we had to approach this project in sections due to the vast undertaking that it was;

Artwork had to be obtained, a suitable, printable substrate had to be sourced, a bonding mechanism need to be investigated and other background tasks had to be done before embarking on this project.

The artwork for this mammoth task was done in the United states by Kurt Wenner, the famous 3D sidewalk artist.

The 11Gb print files were uploaded to us via the internet and our inhouse design team reformatted the images into working pieces that we could use on our printing machines.

The 1 milllion signatures were then added to the edge of the banner and the entire lot was then printed onto sections of environmentally friendly printing substrates on our Scitex HP XL1200 machine. The sections were then bonded together to create one massive, record breaking banner.

The completed banner was then driven up to Brussels for delivery.

Office storage cupboards is a necessity to an efficient and tidy office but often the storage doors can be a bit of an eyesore unless you have a large budget for quality veneered doors. Pyramid Visuals can transform this office storage wall into a piece of art and transform the working environment.

St James Place moved into new building and wanted to brighten up their office. They had installed the high quality office storage specialists James Tobias who installed the storagewall system.

Pyramid Visuals then printed off the client’s artwork on our high resolution HP digital printers onto an Avery 2000 self adhesive vinyl which was then laminated. The Pyramid Visuals experienced installation team went to the client’s office where he temporary removed the storage unit doors and items like locks, handles and hinges were taken off. The vinyl’s were then carefully installed ensure the images as aligned.

The locks, hinges and handles were then refitted and door hung back up to create a wonderful image of a forest.

This is a great example of how good photograph can transform the working environment and the versatility of Pyramid Visuals creative thinking.
